The deeds
Today I want to share a story which my dear grand pa my DADAJI
narrated me.
Once upon a time there were two friends named pawan & vinay. Once they
were passing through a forest on the way to their home, returning from city . They
saw a saint doing meditation under a tree. They went to him, bow down &
touched his feet. Saint opened his eyes & blessed both of them. Pawan asked
him “O saint! We want to know about our future. Please tell us what would be
our life in coming time.”
Saint said to him “You will die in two months. Your
friend would become the king.”
He got too much disappointed & broken in despair he
returned to his home. His friend was too happy to listen that he would be the
king in two months. Right from next dawn Pawan started to spend his whole time
in temple by doing meditation, helping priest in the worship of god. On the other
hand Vinay became drunkard, he started to spend his day & night in brothel.
Their routine continued till that last day of second month came. At the end of
the day Pawan was returning to home at the last step of the temple a thorn
pricked his underfoot. He removed it & went away. At the same time when
boozed Vinay was coming out of brothel he
found a bag full of gold.He picked up the bag & returned to home. In the
morning when Pawan woke up he was extremely happy, Vinay came to his home &
told him about that bag. Both of them decided to visit the place of saint
again.
They reached & asked about how all that happened
against his prophecy. Saint asked what they did in these two months. They told
him the truth about what they did.
Then Saint said to them “My prophecy was undoubtedly true.
According to which you were supposed to
be dead & you were supposed to be the king. But in these two months you
spent whole time in devotion, meditation your deeds lessen the effect & it
turned in to pricking a thorn. While you spent whole time in consuming liquor,
& in brothel. Your fate from a king just turned in to a bag of gold. Those
were your deeds only. What we get what we don’t get is decided by our deeds.
You reap what you sow. Therefore, we must do the good if we want the same. Evil
deed would give you the evil only.”
